Arrivée à Avoriaz!
After I filled out the paperwork we departed Geneva and headed towards the border on a road that perimeters the beautiful Lake Geneva and it's turquoise mountain waters. Across the lake I got my first glimpse of the UN building. Surely that is where my little UN friend would be spending her evening. I had already planned my evening with my favorite frosty Kronenburg. Soon we entered France and stopped at a market to get something to drink. I tell you, Pepsi just isn't the same over here. Never pre-chilled and it has a weird taste. But the body needs it so you drink it anyway.

We sped through the wet, winding and narrow mountain roads towards our destination, Avoriaz. I will be the first to admit that I was unprepared for it. You can get to Avoriaz in two ways, a long out of the way winding mountain pass or take the cable car straight up the mountain. The mountain is really a huge plateau that drops off from Avoraiz to Morzine hundreds of feet. The canyon was so windy that we had to get back into the car and take the car up the pass. Its really a good thing I am helping build this new site, because the one picture the old page must have done this resort harm. I thought it had two lifts and two hotels. It has probably over fifty buildings and forty some lifts. The other thing that the old site didn't make the point that you can actually board to other resorts like Morzine, Châtel, Les Chasets, Les Gets and Ardent. There are twelve resorts that you can board to from Avoriaz and they together make up the Portes du Soleil.

I am staying in the central part of Avoriaz, right across from where I work at Le Mason de Tourisme. I live on the fourth floor in a one bedroom apartment. Unfortunately, I DON"T get that one bedroom because the guy I live with, Lars, already had it, because he lives there. Damn. Anyway, after this site is done, I may just have to lay down some ultimatums about a new apartment. It is totally possible, and my back really can't take anymore. The best thing about the place I am living is everyday when I go through the lobby I get a happy "bon jour!" from this extremely cute French girl.
Lars and I work in an extremely small office upstairs in the tourism office. I thought CIS I have been making pretty good progress with the site, but the relaxed atmosphere helps me loaf a lot. I have been working on a laptop and it took me a while to get all the tools I need on it together. We are getting a brand new computer with a scanner soon. That will be cool because then I can scan my derrière. My bum is on the scanner français, my bum is on the scanner français. (If you didn't see the proper Tom Greene, forget that please.)
